Day 15 of 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

It feels good to tell your body NO and deny the flesh! Most of you by this point in the fast have realized that though the appetite is a powerful thing it should never have complete control over you! YOUR SPIRIT MAN IS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND IT FEELS GOOD. This morning I’m thinking about he Power of Fasting and prayer as it relates to Ezra 8:21 that says There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions. 3 things I notice that occurs during fasting according to this verse. Fasting will push you to a place of humility in the Spirit! Instead of eating what you want when you want you are telling your flesh no, as this occurs it spills over into your spiritual life and begins to dethrone pride and cultivate a heart of humility. Pride has a voice that says you can do what you want, humility has a voice that says whatever God wants from me is what I will do. The lifestyle of fasting prepares your heart to walk in humility. Secondly Ezra called a fast asking God for safety on a journey for him and his children. As your praying on this fast I charge you to pray for the safety of your family while your on this journey called life! Do not underestimate the power of prayer for protection. Thirdly Ezra called this fast for the protection not only for his family but for his possessions. We know that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy! On this fast Pray for the protection of everything that God has given you! Refuse to allow the enemy to come and rob you of why God has given you!!! Plead the blood of Jesus over your heart, your home and your possessions on this Fast!! God bless!!!!!
