Billy Sunday

I can’t get Revival out of my mind nor do I want to!! I sit once again in the presence of my Jesus overwhelmed by the possibility that God desires to release a Synergetic Revival to New Mexico that is marked by a United People that are AWAKENED by the past, EMPOWERED by the present, and MOBILIZED by the future!!! As a response to what God is doing I have been calling for all 33 counties in New Mexico to Unite and pray for REVIVAL IN OUR GREAT STATE! With the pursuit of Revival comes the urgency to become students of Revival! I want to draw your attention to a Great Revivalist named BILLY SUNDAY. Billy Sunday (William Ashley Sunday) (November 19, 1862 – November 6, 1935) was a professional baseball player for the Chicago White Stockings during the 1880s before becoming one of the most popular and influential American evangelists during the first two decades of the 20th century. Billy Sunday was a very vocal opponent of teaching evolution in schools and he held revival meetings in Tennessee during the passage of Tennessee’s anti-evolution statute. In 1922 Billy Sunday held a four-week revival in Charleston, West Virginia in a pine tabernacle built especially for the meeting. The tabernacle seated 6,500, but it would not hold the crowds that attended. During the meeting it would be filled, emptied and filled again. He preached to 20,000 in three services on one Sunday with 1,683 responding. Billy preached hard. He preached against cocaine, flappers, liquor, spiritualism, whiskey, dancing, card playing, the theater and anything else that he thought was keeping people from getting right with God. Now I want to pause right there because it appears that there has risen a generation that doesn’t agree that preaching Hell Hot and Heaven bright is still effective! Our God is the same yesterday today and forever! PREACHING AGAINST SIN IS NOT ONLY EFFECTIVE BUT IS NEEDED TO TO USHER IN REVIVAL!! 20,000 people gathered in this tabernacle to hear the message that Jesus saves you from your SIN!!!!!!!! It is also believed that Billy Sunday won 1 million converts to Jesus! Personally I kind of like Billy Sunday’s style of preaching! Billy Sunday was acrobatic and dramatic. He would sometimes pick up a chair and have a fight with the devil. People were spellbound as Sunday engaged the devil in a death struggle. Billy Sunday would choke, sputter, throw haymakers and finally, to the relief of people on the edge of their seats, he would defeat the devil. Billy was effective at getting mans attention and causing them understand that there is a real battle in the unseen realm with a real devil that must be placed under your feet as the church must rise up in authority!! Listen Church, God has not called us to play games with the devil! For this cause the Son of Man was manifested to DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL!! Church it is time to rise up and pray for REVIVAL and run the devil out of our cities!! Satan is still having nightmares of the DAY OF PENTECOST when God’s people UNITED AND BELIEVED FOR AN OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY GHOST!! As we Unite for Revival we are tormenting the enemy with spiritual flashbacks of Pentecost because he is terrified of the Latter rain that will be GREATER THAN THE FORMER RAIN!!! PRAY FOR REVIVAL IN NEW MEXICO!!!! Here are some quotes from Billy Sunday!!!! Get ready lol lol Billy Sunday said I’ve stood for more sneers and scoffs and insults and had my life threatened from one end of the land to the other by this God-forsaken gang of thugs and cutthroats because I have come out uncompromisingly against them.” —Billy Sunday “The reason you don’t like the Bible, you old sinner, is because it knows all about you.” I love this quote are you ready church this one is going to hurt “One reason sin flourishes is that it is treated like a cream puff instead of a rattlesnake” Last quote for the day now this one will make you laugh! “Listen, I’m against sin. I’ll kick it as long as I’ve got a foot, I’ll fight it as long as I’ve got a fist, I’ve butt it as long as I’ve got a head, and I’ll bite it as long as I’ve got a tooth. And when I’m old, fistless, footless, and toothless, I’ll gum it till I go home to glory and it goes home to perdition!” GOD RAISE UP PREACHERS LIKE THIS AGAIN IN AMERICA!!!!
